In Malaysia, common pavement is using flexible pavement. But, the flexible pavement is easily failure like cracking or fatigue. Besides that, the flexible pavement also provide short service life. The expected long life of the flexible pavement is around 40 years but normally the overlay will be applied after the 20 years to carry the predicted over the next 20 years to ensure the good condition of pavement. Thus, the wearing course of flexible concrete will be focus and study to modify or create a good standard wearing course in this study. To modify the wearing course, the design mix of asphalt concrete will be carried out with replace High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) in the asphalt concrete. HDPE is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum. As one of the most versatile plastic materials around, HDPE plastic is used in a wide variety of applications, including plastic bottles and shampoo bottles. The purpose of study is to determine strength of innovation bitumen by replacing 1.5% , 3% , 4.5% and 6% HDPE plastic and to analyze the comparison of ordinary bituminous properties. The result of study will be more focus at find out the optimum HDPE plastic content which are replacing in asphalt concrete. In conclusion, the optimum and appropriate HDPE plastic is 1.5% which are provide the highest stability, ductility, softening point, flash point, penetration and medium flow when compared to 3% , 4.5% and 6% HDPE plastic.en_US
