DISCUSSION TABLE

Abstract

The obsolete condition of tables and chairs used for students’ discussion session at Civil Engineering Department foyer need to be change. It is difficult for students to do a discussions in uncomfortable situation. From the preliminary study, it shows that students need a comfortable discussion table. 120 respondents were selected randomly to answer the question. Findings also found that, the number of tables and chairs need to be added. The design of the product focus on ergonomics aspect. Currently, there are 11 tables and chairs provided at the foyer. The estimate number of students that could sit at the provided discussion table is about 33 students. This project provide 1 table with 8 chairs for 1 area. The size of the discussion table is about 1400 mm (length) X 1000 mm (width) X 800 mm (height). Wood and plywood is the main material used in this project. While the frame was made from iron. The product testing and second questionnaire distributed as a post data, have been carried out to the students. The data is needed to know the effectiveness of discussion table development from students’ view. It is hopefully this discussion table will give more comfortable situation to the student involve.
