Abstract:
This book, titled Engineering and Society, is written with the aim of bridging the gap between engineering principles and the societal impact they create. Authored by Amalina, Norsa`aidah, and Farahaizan, it addresses the evolving role of engineers in shaping the future, not just through technical prowess, but also through ethical, environmental, and social considerations. The chapters within this book delve into various aspects of engineering that go beyond traditional problem-solving. From exploring the ethical dilemmas faced by modern engineers to examining how emerging technologies influence global communities, each section emphasizes the importance of
understanding the societal consequences of engineering decisions. Furthermore, this book has been specifically designed to support the DJJ40132 Engineering and Society course under the Mechanical Engineering program. It aims to provide students with the knowledge and perspectives needed to understand the essential relationship between engineering practices and their societal impacts, helping them excel in the course and, subsequently, in their careers.
