dc.description.abstract | With the fast development of the construction industry, concrete has never been cheap, while the extraction process of coarse aggregate is not environmentally friendly. With the increased construction activity, it is also will increase demolition wastes. Ceramic tiles are included among of them, while its dumping has got a negative impact on the environment as well. This study is to analyze the potential of using recycled ceramic tiles as replacement of coarse aggregate. It would reduce the use of natural materials or the continuous dependence on conventional materials of concrete. Also, it would preserve the clean environment, in concrete production on compressive strength of concrete and water absorption. The methodology of this study is comprised of collection of recycle ceramic tiles used as partial replacement of coarse aggregate in M15 concrete with 1:2:4 ratio. Slump test, Compressive Strength test and Water Absorption test were conducted on concrete, by different percentages of ceramic tiles replacement (5%, 15%, and 35%). All of the samples were submerged for 7, 14, and 28 days as a curing age. The data and results were tabulated in the table and analyzed by using a graph. The results from the Slump test shows that it is a true slump for all percentages for replacement of recycle ceramic tiles in concrete. This result means the concrete has low (25mm-50mm) and very low (0-25mm) workability. As the result of Compressive Strength, 5% replacement of ceramic tiles in concrete show that the compressive strength is better than conventional concrete. The result for 15% replacement of ceramic tiles in concrete has the highest strength for 14 days, which has reached conventional concrete compressive strength value. The result for 35% replacement of ceramic tiles is not necessary because the result of compressive strength of conventional concrete is higher than ceramic tiles concrete. | en_US |
